I am super excited about this recital! Alongside the great Renate Rohlfing on piano and the wonderful Ruben Rengel on violin, I’ve curated an afternoon honoring one of my idols: Alma Gluck. It will be a great joy to present repertoire inspired by her recording history with her husband violinist Efrem Zimbalist at The Sembrich on Lake George (Bolton’s Landing). Alma was one of the most famous students of one of opera’s greatest early 20th century divas, Marcella Sembrich. Sembrich built the gorgeous salon space as a summer teaching studio where she could welcome students from New York City, Juilliard, and Curtis. Renate, Ruben, and I will close out The Sembrich’s season with music by Saint Saens, Mozart, Beethoven, Puccini, and others. In the meantime, I hope you’ll give Alma and Efrem a listen on Youtube. It doesn’t get more beautiful than this!
